The different tube designs are coming to life. We keep adding new cool details and also implement ideas we’ve had in mind. The tube has gone through multiple different testing phases. This week I’ve been working on the lathe and the milling machine to recreate the second aluminum cylinder. I’ve also been working on the 3d printed parts for the tube.
Short Week
During this short week being dismissed early on Wednesday I had Monday and Tuesday to work on my aluminum cylinder piece. It fits on the end of the tube really tight, Which is why I’ve decided not to make any more holes to the cylinder for set screws, and rather end with a smooth looking cylinder, and to hold the buttons in place I am just going to use J-B weld glue.
Lets talk about Tapping
This is what I am currently working on for my part of the Neopong game. I am drilling a hole into the metal and after that tapping it so that the button has the right size hole and threading to go into so that is secure in the tube. This particular button is special! finding the right tapping tool and hole radius has been a challenge.

Finding the best way to place the buttons hasn't been an easy task. Since I am still figuring out dimensions of the button and the right tapping technique for the buttons to end up being housed on both ends of the tube, I've designed a drawing of an aluminum cylinder which will be attached to the ends of the acrylic tube.
Project update
On the latest news of me and my partner’s project we have just completed printing and soldering the final circuit board for our project. We are now working on the housing/ holder to hold up the tube and have the circuit board in it. So far I am laser cutting prototypes in cardboard to hold the tube, but after that the box housing for the tube I am going to have to 3D print. other than that if you want to see the progress on the code, tube and a small glimpse of the circuit board now check my partner’s website.
